UPDATE: Tuesday, December 17th, 2013
Timothy Compston and Traffic Technology International magazine recently interviewed OSS project team members Doug Galarus and Ian Turnbull about the One Stop Shop application. Doug and Ian described the challenges travelers face in obtaining comprehensive travel information when crossing state borders or districts within a state and the solutions they are developing to address these problems. In rural areas especially, travelers are more likely to be driving long distances, going through different jurisdictions and crossing state borders. Ian said, “Travel doesn’t stop at political boundaries so travel information shouldn’t either.”
The interview was in the “Cross-border traveler information” section of an article entitled “Countryside Alliance” published in the October/November 2013 issue of the Traffic Technology International magazine. The article featured projects and interviews with experts addressing the challenges of rural roadways and ITS deployments. The OSS section starts in the lower right corner of page 19.
